Roman Costume
A Roman costume, for either a man or woman, has always been popular for Halloween and other events like Mardi Gras or costume balls.
Although a lot of Roman clothing was derived from the ancient Greeks, it did have its own distinct form and design. The needles used by the Romans were coarse and large so stitching was minimal which led to the use of clasps and broaches. Do look over the costumes below and you can see how draping was used to formulate some pretty neat outfits for both adult men and sexy women. You’ll enjoy wearing them and will cause a lot of double takes as you walk by.
Roman Man’s Costume
Available in adult standard and X-large sizes
This is one fierce warrior. Reminiscent of Sparta, a faux suede red cape is slung around the neck and worn over a red toga. They’re held together with the use of a PBC clasp. Included are two faux gold shin guards and gauntlets molded around the arms, to help strengthen those areas of the body. The over-the-head vinyl helmet also in gold certainly adds a stern-looking accompaniment to the costume.
Although sword, spear and sandals are not included, you can easily buy them separately, choosing from a different array of products. Makeup can add a scar or two to show you’ve already been in a battle against soldiers from the Emperor’s army. Be aware that the X-large is not a plus size extra large.
Roman Woman’s Costume
Available in adult sizes, S, M, L
If you want to be worshipped, this Roman Woman’s Halloween costume will help it along. You will look like a goddess or a sexy empress in this striking ruby red one-should dress. It has an attractive and stylish uneven hemline with gold ribbon trim in the midriff. The gold choker has a jeweled center perfectly setting off your face and bare shoulder.
Although high heel strappy sandals are not provided, you can easily furnish a sexy pair of gold ones along with a slew of gold bracelets for each wrist. A nude strapless bra will work underneath this lovely flowing dress made well with the use of a quality fabric. Not even Julius Caesar would be able to resist this Grecian vision.
There are many ancient times Roman costumes available on the market. Ever since Julius Caesar invaded Britain in 55 BC, the Roman style clothing was adapted by many in Britain for some 400 years. Now they are enjoyed by many during events requiring costumes. Whether needed for an adult or child, togas are very adaptable.
A Roman soldier as well as workmen wore tunics called Tunicas. Tunicas made from fine wool were worn also worn under togas by dignitaries like Centurions. Marc Anthony wore a toga as did Julius Caesar and members of his court. Dignitaries could wear a stripe on the toga, creating a purple border that draped around his body to set him apart. Gladiators, at first, were slaves who wore versions of togas as they were placed in harm’s way to fight lions and, hopefully, get a thumbs-up from the screaming audience so that they would live to fight another day or get a reprieve from the Emperor.
